Thai five-coloured porcelain is considered a product of high culture. Thaniya, a scented candle producer, is trying to democratise the ancient art for contemporary consumers resulting in an exciting lifestyle product.
Thaniya began as a scented candle producer and exporter. A family business now in its second generation, it is being carried forward by Thaniya Jenturakij. Putting her business degree to good use, she has shifted the business from an OEM model to having the products under their own brand. It aims at the luxury market
by focusing on good design that adds value to the candles. Jenturakij’s idea is thus realised in an incorporation of Thai arts and crafts, namely Thai silk and five-coloured ceramics. These formal and unapproachable arts are restyled for the contemporary audience in the form of scented candle containers.
Thaniya recently earned Chanel’s trust. Thaniya’s product was gifted to each guest participating in the fashion show held by the French fashion house. The event by the Chao Praya River on 31st October 2018, set against the backdrop of the reimagined La Pausa cruise ship, received global attention in the fashion scene with world’s most famous names such as Pharrell Williams and Tilda Swinton being also on the guest list. Thaniya, one of STYLE Bangkok exhibitors, was selected as a gift for the guests — a set of scented candles in exquisite hand-painted ceramic containers. The candle is made with organic soy wax and finest essential oil while the cups are rooted in the art of five-coloured ceramics and the patterns inspired by mudmee silk.
Thaniya is a Thai lifestyle brand which offers a range of home fragrance and decor with a Thai twist. These are high quality handmade products that are in much demand and exported overseas to North America, Asia, and Europe.
